happy new year!
New year, new layout!

On LJ, that is. I still like my IJ layout.

The usericons for journals and comms are even little Impalas. EEEEEE. I blame this entirely on [info]dani_forever, how absolutely fantastic her Dean at Parabolical is and his influence on my characters, as he's given me a love for that car. <3

There, now my first entry of the new year has TEXT first, instead of just a graphic. That said:

what's so funny 'bout the way I talk?
So yesterday was one of the two Christmas parties on Husband Boy's side of family and I received The Original Christmas Classics, which has Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town and four others.

Watching Rudolph now and I cannot believe that, even at twenty-seven, I can still speak/sing along with the WHOLE FREAKING THING. I can't remember to switch the laundry from the washer to the drier an hour after putting it in, but stuff like this and most of the Disney movies made before 2000 I can recite verbatim. (Although I'd swear there's extra stuff/extended songs in this than the one they showed on TV for years and I had on VHS, which is no doubt likely.)

It's funny what you notice about things from childhood as an adult, though I always thought Donner was a huge ass to everyone.

"No, this is man's work." OMG SO SEXIST. Yet I still love this thing just the same.

And in case I don't post it beforehand:

nabbed from various;
So I haven't watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in several years, as we're always getting ready/on our way to family things, but oh my dear Lord, I really, truly wished I had seen this.

He Rickrolled the entire viewing audience. AHAHAHAAHAHA.

I don't even care if most of them had no idea what that truly was, this was so, so much win. I must have it in my journal for all time now.

*SINGS ALONG, AS ALWAYS*

Argh, up earlier than I wanted to be, but I hit six hours nearly on the mark and woke up out of a dead sleep. Dear body, IT IS OKAY TO LET ME SLEEP LONGER WHEN I HAVE NO REASON TO BE UP. Especially on the day where I get to be special, geesh.

I was possibly going to pick a movie to go see along with lunch/dinner, but I really want to see Prince Caspian next weekend, so I think we'll just wait. Now to decide where to eat - as I am so darn indecisive about picking restaurants, this may take all morning for me to decide.

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope everyone has a lovely day!

I still can't bring myself to replace my dead icons because if I have to do it twice, I'll scream.

On this ship, you're to refer to me as 'idiot', not 'you captain'. I mean, you know what I mean.
HELLO FT PEOPLES! :D

I love the friending going on right now, as I make no secret I love interacting via IJ/LJ f-lists, so gaining all these new people makes me very happy. YOU ARE ALL FABULOUS.

In other news...

So busy with HoG, though admittedly with less threadage than the first few days, which is good. New game adrenaline resulting in a mess of threads and journal exchanges is always fun, but I like to eventually get to the point where it is an alternating pattern, sometimes scrambling around reacting to other character's actions and hijinx and sometimes a chill period where what I'm working on is something I specifically went looking for or specifically came to me. ALL DRAMA ALL THE TIME is taxing, but conversely, my RP being entirely me-led is frustrating, so balance is always good, for any game.

Easter was swell as always - the munchkin enjoyed it once she was past the initial "o.O omg who are all of you?!" because Husband Boy's extended family is so huge. I should upload pictures, but I'll likely wait until I upload her birthday pics in two weeks. She's going to be ONE. ONE. It's so shocking.

The next two weeks are going to be somewhat devoted to getting the munchkin's scrapbook together and learning the Art of Cake Decorating, so I think I'm going to spend part of today getting my mini cakes baked and frozen for use in practicing techniques. As I know which things (construction, flowers, leaves, etc) I need to know for this cake in two weeks, I'm starting directly with those, instead of trying to master every design element right off the bat, so I have time to perfect what I need. And that's as far as I'm letting myself think about it, as every time I learn some new crafty skill, I start have delusions of doing things with it. Cake decorating would just not be a good thing to try as a side venture beyond family cakes as my kitchen is just not equipped. The party cake is going to be cooked at my parent's as it is because my kitchen is tiny and my oven hates me.

I am sleeping at night like a normal person for more than just a few days in a row, so hooray to me, and of course to the munchkin for making it possible. I like waking up before afternoon, even if there was a time in my life that sleeping all day was awesome, as my head feels clearer and I stay alert much longer into the evening.

So how are all of you?!

FINALLY
Okay, fingers crossed, I now have a functional version of Firefox that does not mangle all the graphics into abstract art and runs at a decent speed and I DID IT without losing my million username/passwords in LJlogin, none of my extensions and only had to redownload/install a few Greasemonkey scripts.

It took freaking forever though, I was ready to pull out my hair. I highly, HIGHLY recommend FEBE - Firefox Environment Backup Extension, OPIE - Ordered Preference Import/Export and Password Exporter. OPIE didn't end up helping me in the end, as it must be one of the preference files for something that's messed up (only once preferences were installed in the new FF install did it screw up all over again), so I couldn't recover all my preferences, but it was having to find and download everything again and then key in a billion usernames and passwords that had me so discouraged, so these extensions definitely saved me a lot of grief.

Between that and a teething baby, the last few days have been SO NOT FUN and thus my presence on the 'net was very, very scarce.

Now I need to catch up on LJ/IJ so people don't think I've been ignoring them and catch up on comments at FT/FT itself for the same reason.

Happy Valentine's Day, belatedly!

Also, meme ganked from [info]kikithepirate:

// But I dream a dream so pretty //
Christmas was good as always. Zoey seemed to enjoy it, even if wrapping paper wasn't all that interesting after the novelty of ripping the first present wore off, and it's always nice showing her off. [info]poisoniv13@LJ certainly enjoyed continually giving her a faux mohawk at every opportunity. I need to get more pictures when that happens. :P

One of my presents from Zane was a book on CSS, which I really wanted. Already it's helping me clean up a lot of my coding techniques and clarify things I've only guessed at before, so I think my websites will definitely benefit from it. The fun addition, however, is that I've already been able to manipulate some journal layouts because my understanding of it has improved so much - now I feel confident about monkeying around where I didn't before when I was just guessing at what bits of code should do. My LJ now has extra components (I just need to get around to filling them beyond the test text and icons, hee) and as I'm not likely to buy paid accounts for communities to create new styles on IJ, I have already been able to edit in a header in one of mine and [info]dani_forever's IJ RP comms. I was pretty pleased with that!

I do have a few templates to monkey with and more I want to go looking for, so I may change AR's layout even after making a header image to match its current layout. I'd really like the ability to add HTML into the sidebar of whatever layout I'm using, as I liked my Transmogrified set up on GJ, but until [info]squeaky adds more layouts, it'll have to wait.

I just put up a Coppermine gallery for Zoey on her website, so while the site itself isn't done beyond that, at least the gallery looks good and seems to be working well. The layout of it is wonky in Netscape on certain pages, but I don't know enough to check over the theme I downloaded, so it'll likely stay until I do.

RL (holidays) have me so behind creatively, though, so I'm looking forward to the upcoming weeks of catch up. I like being busy with writing and creating, it's a good feeling.
