the state of the pheobe dog;
IT'S NOT CANCER!

That I've had to say this phrase twice this year is a little dismaying, BUT that's obviously countered GREATELY by the fact that in both cases, the presumed cancer was not cancer at all.

Phoebe's surgery was a week ago, from which she's been healing fantastically from, despite having to lose two front teeth (the tiny teeth in the upper front of the jaw) due to the removal of the lump and the skin it was within, and a back tooth due to it being bad. We had promising news from the outset because Bad News Vet (who now deserves her name less than before) was able to get her fingers entirely around the lump, which meant it was not attached to deeper tissue (which cancerous masses typically are), but I'd been biding my time over saying much about it out of a ridiculously superstitious urge to not jinx anything.

The vet called today with the results of the biopsy, which came back negative. While this type of thing (Husband Boy deleted the message before I could replay it to hear the actual term) can be aggressive while in existence (which meant we'd caught it at a good time as well, so Phoebe didn't require any reconstructive surgery), once it's removed, it rarely returns and she assured us last week that they'd excised any tissue surrounding it.

So to those of you who sent good vibes in Phoebe's direction, I thank you, SO MUCH. ♥
